About Okueigenji Fisheries Cooperative

The source of the Eichi River in Shiga Prefecture, surrounded by lush mountains

The Oku-Eigenji Fisheries Cooperative manages the area upstream of Eigenji Dam in Higashiomi City, Shiga Prefecture. Located northwest of the Suzuka Mountains, the Miike River originates at Sakura Pass and Minoga Pass, the Chaya River, where the waters from the east side of Mt. Miike and Shirase Pass join, and the Kanzaki River, which has its source at Mt. Amagotake, flow through deep gorges, forming over 100 valleys. These three rivers join in the Oku-Eigenji area to form the Aichi River, a first-class river.

The water upstream shines emerald green and is characterized by a beautiful gorge landscape, with large rocks and many flat areas making it easy to go upstream. The beautiful scenery, surrounded by broadleaf trees, creates an ideal environment for anglers to enjoy. The stream fish that grow in the clear water are also very beautiful and appealing. We work hard every day to manage the fishing grounds so that everyone can enjoy themselves. Please come and experience the beauty of the area for yourself. We look forward to seeing you there.
